Murtek Data Systems - World Trade Center Disaster Poem and Image

This poem is dedicated to all those who have been affected in some way by the terrorist attack on September 11th. Please take a moment of your day and Light a candle, say a prayer, and offer comfort to those around you. As we try to deal with this disaster as best as humanly possible. Open your hearts for all those who have loved and lost in this

Darkest of Tragedies…

Today it seems my world stands still, only memories remain

And only left to wonder, who deserves to feel so much pain

A world apart from me in miles, a name without a face

Rivers of tears have been shed, angel's wings for your embrace

No words to speak, just shock and dismay, for the event that has changed our lives

And filled our hearts with sadness, for those who never got to say good-bye

And for the final moment of sadness, no regret shall you have felt

For it was not your fault, no one expected this hand to be dealt

In this time of great disbelief, what must help us all to go on

Is to say that we will not be defeated, in this darkest day, we will be strong

Through many tears of sadness, and with all our heavy hearts

We must take this time to realize, everyone of us has a part

For all of the families, whose hearts have been broken from dismay

To take a moment of this day, and bow our heads and pray

Our thoughts and prayers, we give to you, our faith we give as well

To let you know you are not alone, only time will be left to tell

Yesterday has come and gone, but one thing still remains

The sense of loss throughout this land, nothing has been gained

With great sadness, we must say good-bye to those who we've loved and lost

And try to be strong and supportive, no matter what the cost

So always remember to say I love you, give a hug, every single day

And never take a moment for granted, don't compromise in any way

For all those lives that have been lost, and all hearts that need to heal

We take this moment to say a prayer, and wish this weren't for real

You have touched each and every heart, far and wide

We will remember you always, forever, and for now we say good-bye.

Poem, Darkest of Tragedies, witten by Audra Steeves, New Brunswick Canada.

Poem Title, Darkest of Tragedies, named by Joseph Murphy, Nova Scotia Canada.

Image, When Angels Weep, by Dave Oldridge, Nova Scotia Canada.

Footnotes - The author, Audra Steeves, originally wrote this poem as untitled.

After reading it a few times, I thought it deserved one. She agreed, that indeed, this

was the Darkest of Tragedies...

While some express their grief in verse. Others, like Dave Oldridge, better express

themselves with a palette. This picture is truely worth a thousand words.
